Production Prototype

(PP) units are production-ready units that are manufactured in low volume on a prototype supply chain. The PP units look like and work like the final product and have a complete software applications implemented.

Production Prototype

Engineering Optimization

Based on feedback from alpha testing of the Engineered Prototype units, update the industrial design, mechanical design, electronics design, or the product requirements document.

Design Finalization

Perform a cost optimization, a design-for-manufacturing optimization, and a design-for-assembly optimization on the product.

Firmware Development

Develop the complete application firmware source code for the product as well as documentation: firmware design note, firmware verification procedure, and firmware system architecture.

Beta Samples

Send the Production Prototype (PP) filesets out for manufacturing. Manufacturing usually takes on the order of 2-3 weeks. After receipt of manufactured PP samples, perform bring-up and integration testing. Units are now ready for Beta testing.

Production Prototype (PP) units serve as the final prototype manufacturing run of your product.

The PP units should be used to get detailed feedback on product and performance from intended users in beta tests. Therefore, the PP units serve to verify – from a market perspective – all the core functionalities of the product.
